Baked Lemon Trout Fillet

Recipe makes 2 servings

Ingredients:

2 trout fillets (7 ounces/200g each)
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 large green pepper, thinly sliced
1 lemon (for garnish and juice)
Fresh herbs (optional for garnish, e.g., parsley or dill)

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C ).

Pat the trout fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Drizzle both sides of the fillets with olive oil, ensuring they’re evenly coated.

Sprinkle the trout fillets with dried thyme, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Gently rub the seasoning into the fillets.

Lightly grease a baking dish with a little olive oil or cooking spray.

Place the thinly sliced green pepper evenly on the bottom of the dish. This will serve as a bed for the trout fillets and will infuse them with flavor during baking.

Place the seasoned trout fillets on top of the sliced green peppers in the baking dish.

Cut the lemon in half. Squeeze half of the lemon juice over the trout fillets for added flavor, then place the other half (cut into thin slices) on top of the fish as a garnish.

Bake the trout in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and easily flakes with a fork.

Once the trout is cooked, remove it from the oven and garnish with the lemon slices and fresh herbs (optional).

Serve immediately with the baked green peppers on the side.
